Do you tend to put off your root canal treatment visit with the dentist for fear of the excruciating pain associated with this treatment? You are not alone.

It is true that many people still face endodontic treatment with fear and anxiety. This is more due to past experiences when dentistry was still very different. It is important to dispel this myth and reassure patients that root canal treatment is now a painless procedure.

In the past, endodontic treatments were associated with pain during surgery, making the treatment uncomfortable for patients. This was due to inadequate anesthesia and techniques that were not ideal for a painless treatment.

However, developments in dentistry have changed things radically. All treatments are performed under local anesthesia. The materials and tools at our disposal (e.g. the apex locator, digital intraoral X-ray and magnification tools such as the dental microscope ), allow dentists to carry out endodontic treatments with absolute precision and minimal discomfort for the patient. At the same time they reduce the time required to complete a treatment and as a result almost all denervations are done in one or at most two appointments (Read more in the related article).

In addition to technological advancements, the development of advanced methods for managing pain after denervation has also helped to dispel fear. Patients are usually covered with simple post-treatment pain relievers which are almost always able to easily manage any post-treatment tenderness or pain.

In addition, in our effort to be close to patients, we understand and respond to their fears. We offer information and explanations about the process , trying to reassure them and make them feel comfortable.

So you can now be sure that, thanks to the endodontist's expertise and modern materials, techniques and equipment, denervation is a painless treatment that offers a dental care experience aimed at the patient's comfort and sense of security.
